Carpe Diem.

“Small Business isn’t for the faint of heart. It’s for the brave, the patient, & the persistent. It’s for the overcomer.” -unknown

Watching a small business grow has to be one of the world’s greatest things to watch. To see someone achieve success no matter how big or small just proves there is nothing that can stand in your way to your dream. When we are little we are told that you can be whatever we dream of. Most of us never fully achieve that, but every small business owner takes that dream into their own hands and makes it a reality.

DSC_0346I met Sarah, founder of Loved By Hannah And Eli, back when her shop was exclusively hand stamped leggings and shirts. They were the first pair of stamped leggings I had ever owned for the boys and both of them had a good collection of Loved By Hannah And Eli leggings and even some tees. Then the magic happen. You could see her determination and drive. With that she came out with her new amazing screen printed shirts with some of the cutest designs. Loved By Hannah And Eli grew, and grew, and grew right before our eyes. It continues to grow everyday and she continues to make more designs that are only that much better than the ones before. She is now featured in shops such as Urba Baby and collaborations with Miss J Handmade and Little Big Fabric. Of course you can find all her items available at her site Loved By Hannah And Eli.

DSC_0333 r DSC_0337One of her newest shirts, Carpe Diem, is one of my absolute favorites from her. Its so fun and the color, I mean its so rich and amazing! It features a little boy wearing an aviator hat, which are so popular right now, and a pair of wings all within a patch. The wings remind me of flying as a little girl and every time I would get off the pilot would give me a pin with wings on it. And of course carpe diem, Latin for seize the day. Just what Sarah did. She saw her day and she ran. That is just what her shirts do for your little(s)! Takes their dreams and plays it out right on the front. They evoke a feeling in you and has the littlest details that connect with everyone. Letting your little(s) seize the day and live out every dream their imaginations can come up with in a comfy and cute tee.

DSC_0344 DSC_0345A special treat just for our readers! Use code “bahlbabies” to save 15% off your Carpe Diem tee! I told you she’s amazing! Tangled Tantrum

I got this super fun package in the mail today from Amber, founder of Tangled Tantrum! Tangled Tantrum is paraben and alcohol free hair products for kids and adults, which makes it totally safe for the littles in your life. Parabens are a synthetic preservative that can cause health problems ranging from skin problems to breast cancer. It can mimic hormones in the body. Everything from digestion, metabolism, waste elimination, reproduction, and early puberty in children can be effected. Alcohol is very drying and can actually make your little hair problems worse especially curly hair. I know I don’t want to put that harmful stuff on my boys head! Scary to think of all the bad things companies put into their products. So the fact that Tangled Tantrum makes a product safe for them puts them at the top of my list.

When I first got pregnant with Hurleigh I decided to go as natural as I could on my hair and try and get it as healthy as I could. My hair is very kinky curly. I have been having relaxers put on my hair since I was really little. My mom started it and when I was old enough to take care of my hair myself thats just the way I knew to take care of it. I finally decided no more relaxers. It has been almost 2 years since my last one! I also switched to all new hair products geared toward ethnic hair. I have probably tried every hair care product on the market. I thought I was a pro.

With that being said I thought for sure I would have all the tools to take care of the boys hair. Man was I wrong. They both have very different hair types. Bentleigh at one point had curly hair and then we cut it. It was never the same after that and I am sad about it everyday LOL. His hair is very corse and very, very dry if it is not conditioned everyday. I usually only condition his hair everyday, but I only wash his hair every 2-3 days. Forget finding a good styling product. Everything just made it more dry and corse. So we just continued to cut it and leave it short.

DSC_0273This is his hair in the morning after he’s had a bath at night. Kisses (:

Totally out of control. The first thing I used was the detangling and conditioning spray. First the smell…IS AMAZING!! You do not need a ton either and the brush went right through. After I used  Killer Swell hair gel. Again everything smells so good. And Bentleigh was so excited about all the pictures of the rocket, surfing, and skateboard!

DSC_0274And tah dah!

Perfectly sculpted fohawk for Beni boy! And normally he has a few little remnants of curls right in the front that just go wild. Not today! He said “mom my hair looks super cool!”

Now on to Hurleigh. This child’s hair is a disaster most days. I normally just wet it down and put organic coconut oil in it to sculpt the curls. But then he sits on the couch, lays on the floor, breathes the wrong way, and his hair is instantly frizzy again. He has many different curl patterns in his hair so it’s been hard to find one product to control them all. It is also pretty thin.

DSC_0286 DSC_0291From the front it’s not horrible. So deceiving cause the back is a mess.

All we had to do was use the detangling and conditioning spray and I have never been able to comb through it so easy. Super great smelling and super easy and quick. Two things I love when dealing with the boys LOL.

DSC_0328 DSC_0320He actually enjoyed getting his hair combed!

I am definitely a believer now! I read everyone saying how amazing it was, but until you try it you won’t know just how amazing it is. Just the fact that is is paraben and alcohol free and smells great makes me love it, but the fact that the boys love it is 100 times better.

Trick or Treat, mommy and daddy style.

I’ve had a few people ask me for ideas for couples costumes. So I have been doing some research the past few days to come up with some of the best ones! I will start off with our costume from Halloween 2011!

I made both sets of overalls with just plain blue fabric from Joanns, using our own clothes as a pattern, and then bought the accessories. We both had the color shirts we needed so pretty inexpensive costume!

This year we are going as a family…can’t ruin the surprise so you’ll have to stay tune for them. (: But here are my top 5 couples costumes for 2013.

#1 Lightning and unlucky victim

I think this is such a cute idea and not something you see every year! Pretty cheap to. Make the lightning bolt out of card board and attach it you a plain black shirt and get a white button up and umbrella from a Thrift store and make them look distressed and burnt.

#2 Stackz

I mean cardboard boxes, colored paper, and duct tape. Doesn’t get much easier than that!

#3 Juno and Bleeker

Every item can either be found cheap at Wal-Mart or head to your thrift store and I bet you’ll find it there. I’m a sucker for this movie.

#4 PB&J

Not only did I discover a cute new blog when I found this one but its crazy cute! If i didn’t already have costumes planned I would make my husband be this with me LOL.

#5 Duck Dynasty! My favorite show right now!

This can be a couples costume, Phil and Kay, or a whole family event! This will probably be pretty popular this year, but I had to! (:

And because I kept going back to this one and I am sure it has been done before but it’s so cute…

#6 Robbers

I don’t know why I love it so much but I do. Super cute and simple.

There are a ton of options out there! You just have to be creative and think outside the box. A lot of costumes that are popular always are superheros, rock stars, vampires, and one I think will be popular, WIll and Kate with Prince George. Hopefully this gives you some ideas for your costumes this year! If you do take a picture and leave the link below so we can all see it!

Black Island Farms

Shaeson has been working crazy hours lately and that means we can’t go do much. They are on mandatory 12s right now. And this last weekend he was working 13s and has not had a day off in two weeks. I’m not sure if that is even legal LOL but he is super into his job and he is a lead so I don’t argue. Anyways today he snuck out early so we could take the boys to run through the corn maze and pick pumpkins.

It was a blast. It got off to a rocky start. They both fell asleep in the car and we woke them up when we got there. One day we will learn to just let them sleep but today was not that day. Once Bentleigh realized what was going on he was all for it….Hurleigh not so much. He made me hold him the whole time and at one point I put him down and he threw himself down and was kicking his feet. As my friend said a bloggers life isn’t all pooping out glitter and magic. LOL We are real people and yes my 15 month old is the master of throwing fits. But aside from that it was so fun to get out and just spend time as a family. So here are some picture from our day!
